Khadim Batti, co-founder and CEO of enterprise software startup Whatfix, has died at the age of 49.
Batti passed away on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest, according to The Economic Times. Batti co-founded Whatfix with Vara Kumar in 2014. The Bengaluru-based company built a digital adoption platform that helps enterprises improve how employees use software through in-app guidance, training and analytics.
From Huawei to building Whatfix Khadim Batti had more than two decades of experience in the technology industry before co-founding Whatfix. He had earlier worked at Huawei and, along with Vara Kumar Namburu, co-founded SearchEnabler in 2010 before the duo moved on to build Whatfix. Batti and Kumar founded Whatfix in 2014.
Under Batti’s leadership, the Bengaluru-founded company grew into a global enterprise software business, helping companies improve software adoption through in-app guidance, training and analytics. Whatfix's AI push Batti was leading Whatfix’s push into AI as the company worked to make its products more AI-focused. Whatfix launched ScreenSense in February 2025, describing it as an AI technology designed to improve digital adoption and enterprise workflows.
In an interview with Mint in May 2025, Batti said he expected AI products to contribute 15–20% of Whatfix’s revenue by the end of calendar year 2026, up from 1.5% at the time. Whatfix was also working towards profitability and an IPO. Batti had said the company was targeting both within the next two years, putting the potential IPO timeline around 2026–27.
A mentor to India's startup ecosystem Beyond Whatfix, Batti was involved with India’s SaaS and AI founder communities. He was a member of SaaSBoomi’s governing council and a founding member of AIBoomi, an AI-focused founder community. Vara Kumar, Batti’s co-founder and close friend, told Whatfix employees that the two had spoken at length on Monday night and discussed their respective health situations.
“He had been maintaining his health very well,” Kumar wrote. Kumar also said Batti’s family would hold his last rites and religious rituals in his hometown in Gujarat. First Published: Sept 1, 2026 6:46 PM IST
